If you plan to use Roundcube to read and compose email, instead of a client on your computer (like Outlook or Apple Mail), you may want to configure a few default settings.
Your Name
By default emails you sent will appear as from only your email address. If you’d like to put your name in front of your email address (so emails appear as “Michael Smith” with the email “msmith@michaelsmithconsulting.ca” as an example), follow these steps.
1. Log into Roundcube
2. Click Settings (top right hand corner)
3. Click “Identities”
4. Click your email address in the identities column
5. Type your name into the Display Name column and ensure you email is correct in the email column.
6. Click “Save”
Email Signature
You can also set an email signature in the same Identity pane as described above.
Reading/Composing in HTML
Modern email programs use a system called HTML to display text with colours, annotations (e.g.. bold, italics etc.) and images within the body of an email. By default HTML is turned off in Roundcube. You’ll want to turn it on for viewing emails, and for composing them.
1. Log into Roundcube
2. Click Settings (top right hand corner)
3. Click “Composing Messages”
4. Checkmark Display HTML
4. Click “Save”
5. Click “Composing Messages”
6. Under “Compose HTML Messages” change this to “always” 7. Click “Save”
